Sorido Bay Resort is an upscale eco boutique resort located on Kri Island, owned and managed by Anita Matahari-Ammer and Max Ammer, who have been exploring Raja Ampat since twenty years.
They’re the pionneers in the area. They’re not only resort manager, but they undertake multiple diving expeditions a year and assist documentary makers and scientist.
Sorido Bay Resort welcomes up to 14 guests in 7 bungalows nestled in the lush green jungle on a beautiful Cape overlooking a deep kidney-shaped lagoon, meters away from the world’s most famous dive-site ‘Cape Kri’. It is located a mere 1500 meters away from Kri-Eco Resort, around the eastern point of Kri island.
The resort has been designed to offer true luxury; with air conditioning in all rooms, big bathrooms with double mirrors and washbasins, top quality linen on huge king-sized beds, satellite television, mini-bar fridge, and a camera workstation in every room. Open the double glass doors to a large deck with spectacular views of the lagoon at your feet.
The upstairs floors of the two main central buildings have a spacious lounge and dining area with endless views over the lagoon and islands. You will also find a library well stocked with more than enough reference material showcasing the many species of marine life of the topside flora and fauna of this amazing area.
The wooden restaurant is overlooking the sea and meals are prepared in a modern kitchen; using only fresh produce bought locally from the villagers, or freshly caught fish from the local fisherman.
A huge camera room with personal space for every diver with a case tagged at his name and computer station to watch your shots of the day, will ravish all photographers.
Diving in Sorido Bay Resort is well organized. The diving boats carry all the safety features (oxygen tank, first aid kit, VHS radio) and reach the dive sites in les than 30 mn. The house reef is amazing! Dr Gerald R. Allen, renowned marine biologist specialized on the classification and ecology of coral reef fishes in Indo Pacific region, made the 283 species record dive on Sorido Bay! No dive planned on saturday, so guest are welcome to dive on that incredible house reef. A 7 days diving package offer 3/4 dives per day or 3 dives + 1 night dive. Nitrox is also available.
The divemasters are indonesian, local Papuan people trained by Sorido Bay Resort Instructor team. The senior divemaster has mores than 15,000 dives on the reefs. A foreigner divemaster assure the guest relation. Apart english language, german and dutch are also spoken.
The Raja Ampat archipelago is very remote. In the unfortunate event of a diving accident, the best care is far from Sorong. The nearest hyperbaric chambers are located in Manado (Sulawesi), Singapore and Darwin (Australia).
Sorido Bay Resort offers serenity and amazing dive. This resort is not easy to reach, but the richness of the underwater life and the immersion into the nature worth the long journey.
